An exchange of views on public-private partnership with the Asian Development Bank took place
The Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) Orkhan Mammadov met with the Public-Private Sector mission of the Asian Development Bank, visiting the Republic of Azerbaijan to overview the implementation of the Technical Assistance Project on «Support for the Public-Private Partnership Development Center and for the Projects Development Fund».
At the meeting, was expressed interest in the continuation of cooperation with the ADB and studying its experience in the field of public-private sector partnership, also the support and financing of the certification of the employees of the PPP Development Center, and organization of a training trip and joint events have been discussed as well.
Considering the great importance attached to a continuous development of a national PPP environment, ADB’s mission was informed on: i) the adopted on 07/22/2022 «Socio-economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026» containing a number of initiatives to further improve the PPP framework; ii) the launch of an official website of the PPP Development Center; iii) the establishment of a PPP’s projects database and databases on main PPP stakeholders and their compliance officers as well; iv) the upcoming installation of an e-learning platform.
At the same time, it was noted that after the victory in the second Karabakh war, which lasted 44 days, KOBİA within its powers prepared appropriate measures to support business development, as well as attract local and foreign investments to the liberated territories. It was also highlighted that the liberated territories have a great potential for investment activities in the PPP format.
